Literature in the World of Vanmaars!

It is extremely difficult to choose books that are my favourite, but here are few that made the top of the list.

Green Rider and First Rider's Call - Britain, Kristen

Absolutely fantastic! That's all that really needs to be said. Young heroine Karigan has been expelled from school (for dueling) when she finds herself charged with an important errand of a murdered Green Rider. The Green Riders are an elite messenger corps using both horses and magic. The message is a terrible warning for the King about dark beings invading this fantasyland, their presence being only part of a devious, sorcery-aided human struggle for the throne. Karigan becomes involved in an adventure that will forever change her life and risk it.

The sequel is just as well written and leaves you wanting more. I can not wait for the third in the series coming this summer!!

The Shadow of Albion and Leopold in Exile - Norton, Andre and Rosemary Edghill.

Andre Norton is still a master of fantasy and science fiction writing and paired up with Rosemary Edgill to write two alternate historical novels set in 19th century France, Britain and America. A student of history myself, I thoughly enjoyed this adventure. The sequel is just as entertaining as Sarah and her husband take on a new challenge that involves travelling to America.

The story starts when the dying Marchioness of Roxbury gives her body to the consciousness of an alternate self: Sarah Cunningham, a poor orphan from America. Sarah must fulfill the marchioness's neglected promises: to protect King Henry IX's throne from the spurned James's descendants and the plans of Napoleon, while helping the magical Old People of her estate fight off an evil force that wants them destroyed. While Sarah awkwardly adjusts to her new identity, she must also deal with her dashing but cold husband by an arranged marriage. Will Sarah be the wild card in a deadly political game?

Any of the Lincoln Rhyme novels by Jeffery Deaver.

The forensic expert duo Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs will keep you on the edge of your seat as they try to piece together the clues left behind by accident or purpose to solve the crime.
